“Awareness is the greatest agent for change”

Core Therapeutic Approaches

  • At the heart of my practice is the person-centred approach, which holds the belief that each individual has within them the capacity for growth and healing. This approach values authenticity, empathy, and unconditional positive regard. I strive to offer a relationship where you can feel truly heard and accepted, creating the conditions in which lasting change can occur.

  • Psychosynthesis is a holistic and integrative approach that sees every person as more than just their struggles. It recognises that we each have untapped potential, purpose, and a deeper sense of self. This perspective can be especially helpful if you’re exploring questions of identity, spirituality, or personal meaning, or if you’re navigating a period of inner transformation. Psychosynthesis also offers powerful imagery and visualisation tools to aid in healing and self-discovery.

  • This approach focuses on the influence of early relationships and unconscious patterns in shaping how we feel and relate to others today. It can be helpful in making sense of repeating patterns, emotional blocks, or unresolved childhood experiences. By bringing unconscious material into awareness, we can begin to loosen its grip and respond to life in more conscious, empowered ways.

  • While deep exploration is often valuable, there are times when practical tools can make a real difference. I incorporate modern CBT-based techniques to help manage anxiety, interrupt negative thought cycles, and build healthier coping strategies. These tools can be especially useful if you’re feeling overwhelmed or stuck and need structured support to move forward.

  • Clinical hypnotherapy is a safe, evidence-based approach that uses focused relaxation to help you access a calm, receptive state of mind. In this deeply relaxed state, you’re still fully aware and in control, but more open to exploring thoughts, emotions, and patterns that may be difficult to reach in everyday awareness. Hypnotherapy can be especially helpful for issues such as stress, anxiety, confidence, sleep and eating problems. It’s a gentle and collaborative process, grounded in trust, and always tailored to your individual needs.

  • While the conventional psychotherapeutic approaches described above are powerful tools for facilitating change, sometimes used alone, they are insufficient to bring about the depth of change we desire.  It is often helpful to look holistically at our lifestyle and to consider changes we might usefully make to further enhance our health and sense of wellbeing.  Together we can explore wider aspects of what is sometimes referred to as ‘Lifestyle Medicine’ such as: diet and nutrition, exercise and movement, sleep quality, substance abuse, stress reduction techniques and considering wider relationships and purpose.

  • In addition to my core yoga teacher training, I have spent many years studying and practising mindfulness-based approaches to Meditation.  I can help you to learn these medically proven methods to access the innate wisdom of your mind and body to reduce stress and improve your overall sense of wellbeing.  The results of a systematic review of 18 research studies indicate that these techniques improve the condition of people suffering from chronic illnesses, chronic pain and a wide variety of clinical problems: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3336928/

  • I have undertaken additional training over the years in Pranayama/Breathwork which I share with clients who I believe might benefit and are interested.  Learning to breathe with proper use of the diaphragm can have profoundly beneficial effects on both our physical and emotional well-being.  The breath can be very effectively utilised to calm and bring balance to our autonomic nervous system in times of worry and stress.

  • Rather than being limited to one method, I integrate these approaches in a way that is tailored to you. Some clients prefer a more reflective space; others may want clear strategies for change—or a combination of both. My role is to walk alongside you with curiosity, compassion, and respect, helping you make sense of your experience and move toward a more fulfilling way of being.
